Meet NJWOMENSONG’S Leadership
NJWOMENSONG is led by a team of talented music professionals whose expertise and passion shape every rehearsal and performance. Their leadership is key to each member’s growth and the success of our organization.
Hillary Colton
Conductor and Founder
Ms. Colton recently retired after 32 years as Director of Choral Activities at Hunterdon Central Regional High School in Flemington, NJ, where she directed the Select Chorale and co-directed the Concert Choir, Freshman Mixed Choir, and the Noteworthy Men’s Choir.
In 2007 Ms. Colton was named Master Music Teacher of the Year by the New Jersey Music Educators Association.
She was also the recipient of the 2007 Governor’s Award for Excellence in Arts Education. Ms. Colton was the featured cover story in the 2006 September-October issue of Choral Director Magazine.
Ms. Colton had the honor of conducting the NJ All State Women’s Choir. She was also the inaugural conductor of
the Central Jersey Region II High School Women’s Honors Choir and guest conductor at the CJMEA Intermediate
Treble Choir.
Ms. Colton is the past President of the Central Jersey Music Educators Association and currently serves on the All-State Choral Procedures Committee. She has been a clinician for NJMEA, NJEA and ACDA and has presented reading sessions for the past 20 years.
She received her Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the Manhattan School of Music and her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and Music Education from The University of Delaware where she was named “Outstanding Student Teacher of the Year.”
Rosemary Nagy
Conductor and Founder
Ms. Nagy recently retired as a music teacher at JP Case Middle School in Flemington, NJ, where she taught general music and co-directed the 7th and 8th grade chorus. Her select treble ensemble, The Tigerettes, performed at Carnegie Hall and was asked to perform at the Eastern Division conferences for ACDA and NAfME.
Under her leadership, her choirs have received numerous first place and superior ratings as well as best overall junior high ensemble at various festivals and competitions in NJ and PA.
During the course of her 33 year teaching career, Ms. Nagy was a two-time recipient of the NJ Governor's Teacher Recognition Award and Teacher of the Year at JP Case. She was also a participant in the Fulbright Teacher Exchange with the Leweston School in Sherborne, England. As a vocal clinician, she's had the honor of guest conducting the NJ Junior High All-State Mixed and SSA Choirs, and the CJMEA Region II Intermediate Chorus.
Ms. Nagy received her Bachelor of Music degree from Westminster Choir College and earned a Master of Arts degree from Teachers College, Columbia University. She's performed with the New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, the Juilliard Choral Union, and in the opera chorus of the Princeton Festival.
She resides in Belle Mead, NJ, with her husband, Ron, cats, Bella and Maestro, and their dog, Jet.
Thomas Molessa
Collaborative Pianist
Mr. Molessa has been accompanying choirs, orchestras, and soloists since the age of 7. He has performed throughout the world on various tours and music festivals in Asia, Europe and North America.
Mr. Molessa is currently the collaborative pianist for NJWOMENSONG in Flemington, NJ, Taghkanic Chorale in Yorktown Heights, NY, Richmond Choral Society in Staten Island, NY, Tri-State Chorale in Milford, PA, the chorus at the College of Staten Island, and the children’s choir at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Ridgewood, NJ.
He has also been the resident pianist for the Ocean Grove Choir Festival, held annually.
Recently, he has performed on tour with the Three Irish Tenors during their Holiday concerts, and with Eric Whitacre at Carnegie Hall. Mr. Molessa has performed many children’s workshops with various composers, including Andy Beck and Jim Papoulis. He is highly sought after to perform with opera singers and orchestras
on short notice. Additionally, he is a collaborator with various J-Pop groups in Japan.
